New Toys

Some web based (dear I say web
2.0..?) tools for you to play
with
I've been doing some playing of late - looking at
setting up a community area for our friends and
customers.

I'll release this soon (watch this space) but for
now here a couple of tools that I have found (or
have been recommended to use - thanks Gihan...!)

  • Slideshare.com (Free registration required)
This great tool allows you to upload a Power Point
(or other) slide-show and then embed it into a web
    page.
Works really well as the slide show play in the
browser - your viewer doesn't need to download it
    all to view.
You can give them an option to do that 0 or leave
it to be only viewed within the page
  • Hipcast.com (Paid - just use the US$4.95
    option)
This allows you to upload video and audio files
and then embed them into your pages.
Unlike YouTube folks can't go off and see the
other videos like they can with YouTube.
(Note - some corporates are turning off access to
    YouTube for their staff...!)
  • Ning.com - More soon about this - check it
    out though...!
